Category 5e in South West London
There are three main types of Network Cabling available today. These are Category 5e, Category 6 and Fibre Optic. These are often abbreviated to Cat 5e, Cat6 and Fibre. Category 5e and 6 comprise of 4 pairs of twisted cable in a single sheath. The outer sheath can be shielded to provide additional protection from electrical interference in certain industrial environments. Cat 5e/6 can be used for a combination of Speech, Data, Video or Audio.
Fibre consists of a minimum of 4 fibre- optic cores and in an office environment is usually confined to Data or Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). Category 5e still remains the most popular, although Category 6 and Fibre are catching up.
